BATON AND HANDCUFFS (CERTIFICATE III IN SECURITY OPERATIONS)
Batons & Handcuffs can be carried by Security Officers as a form of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). However in order to carry a Baton you must have an endorsement put on your Security License.
In order to get an endorsement from the WA Police you need to complete the training course and get a letter from your employer to state it is a requirement that you carry the Baton for your duties. The Baton & Handcuff course can be completed if you are interested to gain some extra qualifications or add some additional life skills.
You will learn how to manage a risk situation using baton and handcuffs as well as in depth understanding of the legalities pertaining to the use of force. Weapon retention weapon, disarming, maintenance and storage will be covered.
UNITS OF COMPETENCY
- CPPSEC3110 – Control persons using baton
- CPPSEC3111 – Restrain persons using handcuffs
The course is delivered on a face to face basis over a 1 full day period.
